Club Rules

The following special rules apply during all Club play.

** Scorecards:

Two scorecards must be prepared for every group, whether it's a foursome, threesome or twosome.

Each scorecard must contain the following information:
* First AND last names for all players
* List the players in the same order on both scorecards using two consecutive lines for each player. The first line is for the player's stroke counts while the second line is for the player's putts.
* The date of play -- MM/DD/YY (on Date line)
* Scores and putts for every hole (please indicate clearly if a player drops out)
Note: Individual putts are not counted or recorded for a few multi-person games
* Score and putt totals for each player
* On the "Tee-Time" line, record the group number (1 = 1st group off on front, etc.)

Both scorecards must be turned in. One of the cards is designated the "official" card and must be signed and co-signed (co-sign by initialing the "Attest" line) by the two scorekeepers. The other card is the "backup" and should not be signed or co-signed, but should contain all of the scores, totals and other card information.

All players from each golfing group (threesome or foursome) should remain together at the clubhouse until both scorecards have been completed and turned in.

A player will be disqualified from that day's game(s) if any of the above information is incomplete.

** Sign-In Deadline:

All players must sign-in by the sign-in deadline (9am unless changed by the group).

** Play-Together Requests:

Requests to play with a particular other player will be honored in two instances: (1) when a player brings a guest or (2) when two players will be riding together in a cart.

** Handicaps:

Club handicaps will be established and maintained for all members. These handicaps will be based exclusively on Club play (Any similarity to a player's OGA handicap, for example, is entirely coincidental). At the start of the season, the previous year's handicaps will be carried forward for all continuing members. New members will need to play at least 27 holes, including BOTH the front and back nines, before a handicap will be set. Players without Club handicaps, including new members and all guests, will not be able to participate in games based on handicap.

** Maximum Fairway Strokes:

On any given hole, if a player has taken eight shots (including their tee-shot) without reaching the green, the player will pick up their ball, move to the green and place the ball on the green at the location that is farthest from the pin. The player's score for this hole will be eight plus the number of putts needed to hole the ball.

** Free Relief:

Any player may drop a ball, without penalty, if the ball lands in Casual Water or is behind or adjacent to an Immovable Obstruction. The dropped ball must not be closer to the hole than the original position. [Fine Print: Immovable Obstructions include structures and constructions (such as fences, sprinkler heads, outbuildings) that are neither natural features (trees and bushes, for example) or intended primarily to give the golf course personality or make it challenging (such as bunkers and lakes). Fallen trees, limbs and large branches, as well as tree stakes, are all considered Immovable Obstructions, however. Casual Water is any body of water that lies outside of a Penalty Area.]

** Lift-Clean-Place:

Sometimes referred to as "Winter Rules," a player may lift, clean and place their ball up to six inches away from its original location, provided that the new location is no closer to the hole than that original location. This rule may not be used, however, to remove a ball from a bunker, penalty area or lateral hazard, or to move a ball in-bounds from an out-of-bounds lie.

** Counting Strokes:

No gimmies, mulligans or whiffs are allowed.

** Counting Putts:

Once a player's ball lands on a green, all of their remaining shots on that hole are counted as putts, even if one or more of those shots lands off of the green.

** Out of Bounds:

When a shot carries out of bounds, the player will go to the place where the ball went out of bounds and drop their ball two club lengths from that spot. Add one penalty stroke.

** Lateral Hazards:

Lateral hazards include lakes and other hazards that are marked with red stakes or red lines. If they are able to reach their ball, a player may play the ball where its lies. Otherwise, the player must apply the same rule as for an out-of-bounds shot: Go to the place where the ball went into the lateral hazard and drop the ball two club lengths from that spot. Add one penalty stroke.

** Tee Locations:

Players age 90 and over may play from either the red or blue tees. Men ages 80-89 may elect to use the red tees on Hole #7 only. All men age 79 and under will use the blue tees. All other women will use the red tees.

** One Prize Per Golfer Per Day:

Each golfer may only win a single game prize per day.
